1. Eligibility for Returns & Refunds

You may be eligible for a return or refund under the following conditions:

  • Damaged Item: If the book you received is damaged during transit (e.g., torn pages, broken spine, water damage).

  • Incorrect Item: If you received a book different from what you ordered.

  • Missing Item: If an item is missing from your order.

  • Defective Product: If the book has manufacturing defects (e.g., missing pages, unreadable print) that render it unusable.

  • Change of Mind (within 7 days): If you wish to return a book due to a change of mind, you must initiate the return within 7 days of delivery. The item must be in its original, unused, and resalable condition. (Note: Some categories might be excluded from ‘change of mind’ returns, see section 2).

Please Note: For an item to be eligible, it must be unused, in the same condition that you received it, and in its original packaging.

2. Non-Eligible Items for Return/Refund

The following items are generally not eligible for return or refund:

  • Books that show signs of use, wear and tear, or damage not present at the time of delivery (unless reported immediately upon receipt as damaged).

  • Books returned without their original packaging or accessories (if any).

  • Digital products (e.g., e-books, audiobooks, if applicable).

  • Items marked as “Final Sale” or “Non-Returnable.”

  • Books purchased during promotional sales where specific non-returnable terms were clearly stated.

3. Return & Refund Process

To initiate a return or refund, please follow these steps:

  1. Contact Us:

    • Email us at cvbvns@gmail.com or call us at +91 97185 94839 within 2 days of delivery for damaged, incorrect, or defective items. For ‘change of mind’ returns, contact us within 7 days of delivery.

    • Provide your Order Number, a clear description of the issue, and photographs/videos of the damaged or incorrect item/packaging where applicable.

  2. Return Authorization:

    • Our customer service team will review your request. If approved, we will provide you with a Return Authorization (RA) number and instructions on how to send back the item. Please do not send your item back before receiving an RA number.

  3. Packaging the Item:

    • Carefully pack the item(s) in their original packaging, including any accessories, dust covers, or protective wraps.

    • Clearly write the RA number on the outside of the package.

  4. Shipping the Item:

    • For damaged, incorrect, or defective items, Chaukhamba Books will arrange for a reverse pickup or provide instructions for return shipping, and we will cover the return shipping costs.

    • For ‘change of mind’ returns, the customer is responsible for the return shipping costs. We recommend using a trackable shipping service and purchasing shipping insurance, as we cannot guarantee that we will receive your returned item.

  5. Inspection:

    • Once we receive the returned item, it will undergo an inspection to verify the reported issue or condition. This typically takes 3-5 business days.

4. Refund Methods & Processing

  • Approval: If your return is approved after inspection, your refund will be processed.

  • Refund Method:

    • For damaged, incorrect, or defective items, a full refund will be issued to your original method of payment.

    • For ‘change of mind’ returns, the refund will be issued to your original method of payment, less any original shipping charges (if applicable) and return shipping costs.

  • Processing Time: Refunds typically take 5-10 business days to reflect in your account, depending on your bank or payment provider.

5. Order Cancellations

  • Orders can be cancelled only if they have not yet been dispatched from our warehouse.

  • If your order is eligible for cancellation, a full refund will be processed to your original method of payment.
